2. Basics of IB Math Logarithms
In it’s simplest, most generic form - logarithm answers the following question:
How many of one number multiply together to make another number?
For example: How many 5s multiply together to make 25? The answer is obviously 2. Hence, logarithm log5(25) = 2
You can also think of logarithms as the inverse function to exponentiation and ask yourself:
To which power do I need to raise 5 in order to get 25 ?
The answer is obviously the same = 2.
